STEM & STEAM

Early childhood Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programming is a priority in Pennsylvania libraries. Our state has a long history of STEM programming. Pennsylvania was a pilot state for a program created by the Vermont Center for the Book entitled, What’s the Big Idea?: Making Math and Science Come Alive for Children and Families in Your Library.

Recent initiatives (pre-pandemic) included hands-on fun for children and families in the form of Block Parties for libraries with the space to accommodate lots of building materials and Wee Build, a similar set of materials for smaller libraries. We hope to see these materials enjoyed once again by children and families in the future!
