Implementation Outline:

Year One 2013-2014

  • Form steering committee with representation across the state to guide initiative development
  • Develop evaluation plan for a multi-year roll-out
  • Introduce initiative at PaLA Pre-Conference event
  • Survey librarians as to background knowledge and needs related to Cruise goals
  • Analyze survey results to align and prioritize resource development

Year Two 2014-2015

  • Website launch with interactive game board for public and internal resources based on survey results
  • Public awareness emphasis with distribution of Cruise window clings, Cruise brochures, and the Cruise website
  • Train-the-trainer professional development for librarians in key locations across state

Year Three 2015-2016

  • Continue to refine and enhance print, online, and programming resources
  • Focus on strengthening community partnerships and outreach throughout the state
  • Launch Play K curriculum by providing training workshops and materials throughout the state

Year Four 2016-2017

  • Continue to refine and enhance print, online, and programming resources
  • Continue to focus on strengthening community partnerships and outreach throughout the state
  • Facilitate Play K curriculum by providing additional training workshops and materials throughout the state

Year Five 2017-2018 

  • Continue to refine and enhance print, online, and programming resources
  • Continue to focus on strengthening community partnerships and outreach throughout the state, with an emphasis on family engagement
  • Facilitate ongoing Play K curriculum implementation by providing an online module for new staff or as a refresher course

Beyond Year Five…

  • Continue to provide support for libraries and staff by maintaining and enhancing this CruiseLibraries website
  • Continue to provide support for young children and families by maintaining and updating the PACruisetoK interactive gameboard website
